I expected CRiX to be the main challenge for me in game 1. However, due to the Colonel's absence, I was pitted against the venerable zoot in a desperate race for first.
Alas, the ill-fated NrgSpoon was dealt the final blow, sealing zoot's victory in the first battle.
The second game had me up against some tough rep players, including zoot. He dominated that table with one fell tsumo after another. Being the weakest player at that table, I was easily whittled into last place. Seems I'll need to work on my skills before the next tournament! In retrospect, maybe I should have made more open hands. I called 0 tiles during the whole game but dealt into numerous open 2000-point hands whose potency I underestimated at the time. They all add up though!

The final match was between ronronronronron (Bernd), NrgSpoon, narcosynthisis (desmond2), and Speedwagon. It was an intense battle with many spectators and hilarious IRC commentary. After totaling the results of 2 games, the victor was ronronronronron, with Speedwagon taking second place.
